About Keep & Paw
Keep & Paw is an independent site about the animals we share our lives with. Our journal looks at pets in history, royalty and art; our keepsake guide helps you turn a favorite photo of your own pet into something you can hold.
Who writes it
Articles are written and checked by the Keep & Paw editorial team. We use AI tools to help draft text and create some illustrations, and every factual claim is checked by an editor against the sources listed at the end of each article before it is published.
How we research
- Sources first. We work from breed clubs (such as the American Kennel Club and the Cat Fanciers' Association), museum collection records, encyclopedias and published histories, and we link the sources we used at the end of each article.
- Legends are labelled. When a story is popular but poorly documented, we say so — and we explain common myths rather than repeating them.
- Images are labelled. Historic artworks are public-domain images from museum or Wikimedia Commons collections. AI-generated illustrations are marked as illustrations and never presented as historical images.
- Corrections. If you spot an error, email us and we will check it and update the article.
How the site is funded
Some links on our Keepsakes page are affiliate links. Commissions never influence what we write in our history articles, which contain no shopping links. See our affiliate disclosure.
